*Draft* Final Project - Self-Designed New Media Work

I am still on the fence about what I'd like to do for my final project, so this is me throwing ideas into the wind and seeing what comes to me.

  1. Animal Crossing mini installation: Back in art installations, my installation was based on a videogame called Overcooked! While I didn't host this installation for the class, I brought in my switch for the class to play the game and bring part of the installation to them. This time, the installation would be based on Animal Crossing. My idea for this is to 3D print out the characters, background/miscellaneous pieces, and terrains that are a part of the game (fruits, flowers, hills, houses, etc.), and paint them. I would have something covering the table - either some sort of cloth or a large piece of paper - to fill the empty spaces with "land" or "sea/river". A map of the "island" would be printed out in the same set up the game has. Ideally, this installation will reflect my Animal Crossing island in the game. My switch will also once again be brought into the classroom to show the set up in the game.
  2. Make an art account? I recall someone in Intermediate New Media in the Arts created a website for their photography which was pretty cool. Now I'm not tech-savvy like that, nor would I want to create a website, but making an art account would seem cool. I know art accounts are important for people to get discovered. I will not be making an art account for that purpose though, just more for personal use. While making the account would be easy, keeping up with it would be the main challenge. One, a lot of my art consists of doodles - like pages of them. I don't really do a lot of completed pieces unless I have to. Two, even with the completed artworks I have done, I don't normally save my pieces. Three, I'm not sure how I'd go about posting on an art account. Do I just mass spam the art I have right now or post throughout the duration of the term?
  3. Something involving an alternative scenery. The reading mentioned a connection between "message/meaning" and "image", and alternative culture (emos, punks, goths, etc.) do have a decent amount of symbolism in their cultures. However, I'm not sure what exactly I would want to do in regards to this.
  4. uhhmm uhhh idk. I actually had something for this one, too, but it's not coming to me now so who knows if I'll remember.
Given that I'm not attached to these ideas just yet, I might end up doing something that is not on the list.

  1. The more I think about it the more I love the Animal Crossing Installation! I'm curious what size scale you will give the project and see how you bring your island to life.
